Be back later for the magic.

7:44pm:
I'm back. 15 minutes to go, people!

7:50pm:
Places in 10 minutes!

7:55pm:
Last call! 5 minutes!

7:59pm:
Turn to CBS now! It's showtime, folks!

8:10pm:
Jackman is quite a bouncer. The opening sequence was incredible with a non-breaking one shot that reminds me of a scene in Goodfellas. The After Midnight number was top-notch. Nice monologue.

8:15pm:
Featured Actor in a Play: Mark Rylance, Twelfth Night (0-26). Great speech with a long shoutout and story for Globe Theatre. Plus, no orchestra cutoff.

8:19pm:
Les Miz is still powerful without the turntable set. "One Day More" is still marvelous.

8:37pm:
Hugh did a sharp Tony take with "Mack The Knife" and thanks one of the cameramen for the opening earlier. He's still got it so far.
Featured Actress in a Musical: Lena Hall, Hedwig (1-26). She cried too much.
Iglehart is a certified show-stealer with that Aladdin number. He even made fun of Disney itself too.
Dirty Harry even met Elsa.

8:58pm:
They got Idina's name right this time. What a year she had.
Direction of a Play: Kenny Leon, Raisin in the Sun (1-26) Tells the audience that kids needs to learn about theatre in the schools and tells people to see his new work now in previews, Holler If Ya Hear Me.
Direction of a Musical: Darko Tresnjak, Gentleman's Guide (1-26)
Rocky worked better on screen than on stage. What's next? Knicks Vs. Rockets 94:The Musical?

9:09pm:
Sound Design, Musical: Brian Ronan, Beautiful (1-26)
Sound Design, Play: Steve Canyon Kennedy, Lady Day (2-26)
Feautred Actor in a Musical: James Monroe Iglehart, Aladdin (3-26) He did a happy dance, too.
18 years ago, Cabaret was hot stuff. Now, it feels old-fashioned.

9:23pm:
Hugh is having quite a rockin' good time.
Scenic Design, Musical: Christopher Barreca, Rocky (4-26). Yep, I voted for it. The sets looked nice though on the bright side.
Scenic Design, Play: Beowulf Boritt, Act One (4-26).
Featured Actress in a Play: Sophie Okonedo, Raisin in the Sun (5-26) The evening's big surprise so far.
That Gentleman's Guide number is quite funny, reminded me a bit of Edwin Drood.

9:40pm:
Best Actress in a Play: Audra Mcdonald, Lady Day (6-26). Yep. She broked the record!
Best Actor in a Play: Bryan Cranston, All The Way (7-26). Walter White gets his Tony.
Neil Patrick Harris gives the best moment of the night so far. Expect a big standing ovation later for his award.

9:55pm:
Best Play: All The Way (8-26). From the playwright: "Been a long time drinking water in this town."
Lovely number from Violet.

10:15pm:
Sting's new musical looks promising.
Best Book: Gentleman's Guide, Robert L. Freedman (9-26)
Best Score: Bridges of Madison County, Jason Robert Brown (9-26). The Tony voters even remembered the show after it was closed. Sad, but very happy to see the show before it closed. The music was powerful.
Best Revival of a Play: A Raisin in the Sun (9-26). Can't believe the voters forgot Menagerie.

10:37pm:
Muller really disappears into King in Beautiful. Muller and King even work pretty well together.
Best Actor in a Musical: Neil Patrick Harris, Hedwig (10-26). Doogie takes home his first Tony and gives a shoutout to his three-and-a-half twins which he misses a lot.
Best Choreography: Warren Carlyle, After Midnight (11-26)
Best Orchestrations: Jason Robert Brown, Bridges of Madison County (12-26)
Cool rap take on The Music Man.

11:09pm:
Those mobsters in Bullets are sharp tap dancers.
Best Musical Revival: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (13-26)
Best Actress in a Musical: Jessie Muller, Beautiful (14-26). She calls Carole King an "amazing woman".
Judging from that sparkling performance by Hudson, Finding Neverland is destined to be a big hit next season.
Best Musical: Gentleman's Guide (14-26) Expected Beautiful, but the season's other runaway hit took home the big prize. Lead producer gives one of the night's best speeches.
Hugh closes the show with a bring-the-house-down Broadway melody and tells the US audience to see a Broadway show.
Best Costume Design, Musical: Gentleman's Guide, Linda Cho (14-26)
Best Costume Design, Play: Twelfth Night, Jenny Tiramani (14-26)
Best Lightning Design, Musical: Hedwig, Kevin Adams (14-26)
Best Lightning Design, Play: Glass Menagerie, Natasha Katz (15-26)

Final comments:
-This astonishing ceremony equaled last year.
-My predictions were uneven this year with a final 15 out of 26 in my picks.

Well, that my report for Tonys '14, now officially history and in the record books. Good night and happy show-watching!
